Best Top Coat in the universe.

After years of manicuring my hands with expensive polish and having it chip off after two days, I decided to just spend money on Dollar Store polish and paint them regularly.  Then I learned that it was all about the top coat.

We ladies have spent so much money and energy and time and everything else on searching for the best top coat for our precious nails.

I’m here to save you that struggle.  You’re welcome.

Seche Vite!

Best Top Coat in the universe.

This thing is the most amazing nail polish I’ve ever used in my life.  I literally wear $1 polish most of the time (which is how I have so many colors), and I get a manicure that lasts throughout the week.

I typically give myself a full manicure every other week or every two weeks, but with Seche Vite, it looks like I’ve got a professional manicure.

The only con…

A lot of reviews talk about “shrinking” polish, so I wanted to address that.

When I still have a wet coat of color polish, I apply a coat of Seche Vite to the ENTIRE nail.  A lot of people don’t coat the entire nail, but they don’t realize it until they use this polish because it’s thicker and breaks apart the color polish to ensure a thick, shiny coat.

Even with my manicure this week (as seen above), there are obvious spots where I didn’t coat the side of my nail with the polish, but for the most part, it looks like a professional did my nails.

In case you were wondering, I clean my nails with 100% Acetone ($2.50 at Walmart) and an e.l.f. concealer brush ($1 at Walmart or Target).  Just dip the brush into acetone and wipe the excess polish from your skin and nails to create a clean finish.  I typically do this before I apply Seche Vite.

You can grab a bottle for less than $5 on Amazon. You can buy it at Sally and CVS for a lot more.

Bing Rewards – Free Stuff!

So let me tell you about something pretty damn cool – Bing Rewards.

I’ve been using Bing for years because Google doesn’t like to celebrate patriotic or religious holidays, and it -around sucks. Well, I noticed a little medal icon in the top of the homepage every time, and finally I decided to click on it. Apparently, for each search I was making, I was accumulating points…

But what were these points for, exactly? Free stuff, of course! Who knew my decision to use Bing would get me free rewards? They have gift cards for Amazon, Domino’s, Applebee’s, Gamestop, and more, but you can also use your points to donate money to charities like the Boys and Girls Club of America or the Kids in Need Foundation.

There are levels (Member, Silver, and Gold Status) and you can move up and get freebies for fewer points.

I just got my first reward today: a gift certificate to Domino’s!

All you need to do to join is log in with your Facebook account or Microsoft account. Accumulate points through your computer and mobile device by making searches, and get free stuff! It really can’t be much easier than that!

Book Review: The Tenth by Joanne Moudy

This is the first book I’m reviewing officially on my blog, and hopefully it won’t be the last.  I got The Tenth from Joanne Moudy herself, and she even signed it for me.  She’s a really sweet, wonderfully talented woman.  While will go into parts of the book vaguely, there will be no spoilers!

After seeing some reviews, I realized The Tenth was her first book.  Wait.  What?!  There’s no way!  It’s a highly intelligent, well put-together novel that is so easy to read.  I figured Moudy had been writing for years, which is probably true, but you know what I mean.  I couldn’t believe this was her first book.

The Tenth is a fast-paced thriller about faith.  The story centers around Elizabeth, a trauma nurse who has experienced great loss throughout her life and has given up her faith.  On a daily basis, she experiences dramatic situations that often end in death, so she believes that even if there is a God, he is uncaring and remorseless.  However, she soon experiences things that lead her toward God’s path and she slowly restores her faith in Him.

Some chapters focus on The Nine, a group of elder-esque beings in Heaven.  Joseph, the Sixth, discovers a darkness in one of the realms.  In my opinion, these are the chapters that make The Tenth a real thriller.  Readers don’t really know what is going on until later, when the two stories intertwine.  The supernaturality and spirituality weaving into the real world creates an interesting effect that kept me turning the page.

The story is really well written.  The characters are believable; while I was reading Elizabeth’s story, I found myself thinking, “When I wasn’t a Christian, I thought the same negative things, too.”  (Note: when I was a teenager, I did not believe in God.  I have since realized my own faith.)  They were well developed, and I found myself rooting for a lot of the characters trying to help Elizabeth, particularly Jackson.  In fact, I probably liked his character the most.

The medical scenes, by the way, are amazingly written, as they are vivid and wildly creative.  I often wondered if Moudy experienced them herself because of how specific they were.  I did cry during some parts (but don’t worry, I won’t tell you which ones!), and I found myself becoming attached to the characters more than I thought I would.

This is the first novel I have read that has such a prominent religious plot and setting, and I have to admit, I loved it.  The values set in this book are some that many, religious or not, should consider.  The Tenth is captivating and I would absolutely recommend it for all adults and young adults.  It’s eye-opening and could possibly be life-changing.

Glade Plugins Scented Oils and Wax Melts

I was given some Glade products through BzzAgent.  For a full explanation of BzzAgent, click here.

In my kit, I received Glade Wax Melts and Glade Plugins Scented Oil Customizables.

Wax Melts: I love these things.  I love candles, but I don’t like spending an arm and a leg for something that smells fantastic and lasts a reasonable about of time.  I think these are perfect for my needs!  I purchased the Fresh Berries and Raspberry melts, and ohhhhh boy.  GREAT idea that was!  My mom and I are in love with the scents! One cube so far has lasted about 5 hours and there is still about half of it left to burn.  There are a total of twelve cubes in one package that doesn’t cost much!

Plugins Scented Oils Customizables: I’m not a huge fan of plugins because they take up outlet space and they get really hot, which makes me uncomfortable.  Since I wanted to try this, however, I bought the nicely designed plugin (pictured below). It’s cool because you can have two different scents, and they change often so your house is always smelling nice and different. The only downside was that this is too powerful, even when it’s on the lowest setting. My mom kept getting headaches from the scent and had to keep unplugging it. I wasn’t irritated by the strong smell, but if you have any sensitivity, this may not be what you’re looking for.

Tone Body Wash – Pink Peony and Rose Oil

As a BzzAgent, I occasionally get free things from companies in exchange for reviews and feedback.  For full details of BzzAgent, click here.  In my most recent BzzCampaign, I got a free, full-sized bottle of Tone Pink Peony and Rose Oil Body Wash, so this is my review.

I have fairly sensitive skin, and Tone body wash is really soft and gentle on my skin. I used Tone in the past and loved it, and it never gave me problems or irritations. After showering, my skin felt so soft! It also lathers easily, which is something I look for in a body wash (I know I can’t be the only one, right?). The only complaint I have was that the scent wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. When I bought Tone in the past, I bought Vino Moisture, and it smelled AMAZING. This scent, however, was subtle and not very rosy. I’ve never been a fan of sweet pea or subtle floral scents, so that’s probably why.

Verdict: I like Tone a lot and will be probably purchasing the brand and body wash in the future, but I won’t be getting this scent.
